Laura Linney, best known for playing strong, yet vulnerable characters, is one of the most well-known American actors of the present. Born to a well-known playwright's father, and being raised by a single mother who made a living in the field of nursing, she was drawn to theatre when having summers spent with her father then pursuing acting studies, initially at Brown University and then at Juilliard School. Following her graduation, she launched her Broadway career. The following year, she began her career she was on television. Since then, she has appeared appearing in a variety of films, TV shows and stage performances. Her achievements have been numerous throughout her career including several Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. Yet, despite numerous awards, theatre has remained her first love and she is still appearing in stage and screen.
