April Lockhart
April Lockhart (born July 4, 1995) started her musical journey at the age of 7 when she took guitar and piano lessons. April Lockhart wrote her first single, Different at the age twelve years old. She spent lots of time at 14 writing songs and practicing music. After that, she started taking trips to write with her father in NY and LA. April added other themes to the track "Take My Hand" to help her the friends she had who struggled with problems like peer pressure, disabilities, and even teenager suicide. Lockhart also has an ever-growing fan base as a lifestyle blogger as well as a spokesperson for the popular brand of clean and natural beauty Ilia. She was born without a left hand. This creates her unique. But this isn't the only characteristic of her. Lockhart doesn't deny her disability on Instagram, but she does not make it the main focus of her story. What is the message? We are all more than just our physical self. Our identities are complicated and we contain many different aspects. Lockhart said via video that she does not want to be defined solely by her physical disability. She doesn't wish to become a disability advocate who only talks about disability. There are a lot of aspects of Lockhart. The issue doesn't affect my everyday routine. I go about doing my job as normal and have developed my own ways to adapt. This is a major element of my life therefore it's important that we talk about the subject. Lockhart has served as an excellent inspiration to her fellow women in the area of self-acceptance. Still, she admits that she went through phases in her life with her physique, feeling insecure at times to wear outfits that showcased her arms. Nowadays, she dresses anything she likes and uploads photos in those outfits to social networks with a sense of pride. It's a journey is what I don't know that it will be an end about self-love. That's true of everyone regardless of their insecurity. It is essential to be around those who are able to know the person you are.
