Amy Lou Adams, full name Amy Lou Adams (born 20 August 1974, Aviano Italy), American actress. Her fame is for her naive roles that are engaging and relatable. Adams was born and was raised in Castle Rock Colorado, as the youngest child of seven. Her father was in U.S. service in Italy. In the mid-1990s she began performing professionally and dancing with the Boulder Dinner Theatre and the Country Dinner Playhouse in Colorado. Following her move to Minnesota, she starred in a mock-documentary film called Drop Dead Gorgeous (1998) concerning beauty pageant contests. Her screen debut was as the bright, beautiful contestant. Leigh was discovered by actress Norma Shearer and signed a contract to be a part of MGM in the 1940s. Over the course of the 1960s, she appeared in films that were popular, including Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho as well as Living It Up.
