Richard B. Cheney, prominent public servant and businessman, is the vice president. Cheney known as a popular figure on the scene of Washington politics, worked with four presidents in the United States. George W. Bush is the fourth. Bush chose Cheney to be his vice-presidential candidate in July 2000, citing Cheney's knowledge and expertise. Dick Cheney served as the chief of staff for a president, was a Member of Congress as well as secretary of defence. Both Republicans as well as Democrats appreciate his integrity. Cheney believes his role within his position in the Bush administration is to serve as a candid but discrete advisor. Cheney declared his delight at accepting the Republican vice-presidential nominee. He stated that Cheney is eager to work alongside a president who will collaborate with those who have different political views and with common objectives. Richard Bruce Cheney was born in Lincoln Nebraska on January 30 1941. He was the child of Richard Herbert Cheney and the former Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. At the age of 13, Richard Bruce accompanied his parents to Casper (in the state of Wyoming) where his father served as director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's land conservation districts.
